Business Resource eBooks

There are thousands of business resource eBooks online, many of them free. While an eBook may be as simple as a text-only version of a popular title, many take the form of interactive tutorials for business software and practices.

However, watch out for the MLM and "Make a Million on the Internet" eBooks. These are often little more than get rich quick schemes that benefit only the publisher.

Another suspect category is self-help. Although many of these titles are genuinely helpful, some are designed as very persuasive sales pitches for one panacea or another. Snake oil salesmen live on through the Internet.

Be wary of any eBook or eBook source that asks for personal information, even if it's just your email address. There may be a bona fide reason for the request of personal information, but be sure to understand that reason and weigh it against the potential value of the eBook. Otherwise, you may find yourself the eventual recipient of an endless stream of spam.

You should always know your source, or at least trust it to a reasonable degree. Only a very small percentage of eBook packages carry a hidden virus or worm. If your anti-virus program is not on, be careful.

Project Gutenberg has created more than 20,000 public domain eBooks to date. They limit their "eTexts" to ASCII text to be compatible with virtually all operating systems. Adhering to copyright laws, however, has limited their title selection to older works. Still, many business reference books are classics and very much worth accessing.

Now with over 100,000 titles to its credit, Project Gutenberg continues to spread literature and literacy throughout the world. Within its three main categories - Light Literature, Heavy Literature, and Reference - you may find some great business resource material.
